ANTI WRINKLE INJECTIONS FAQ

How are the anti-wrinkle injections administered?

Your physician will administer tiny injections to the areas required. The procedure will take between 10 and 20 minutes.

What areas does the treatment target?

Anti-wrinkle injections can be administered on various areas of the face. The most common areas treated are the frown lines, the forehead and the crow’s feet around the eyes, but you may also wish to target the corners of the mouth, the side of the nose or around the chin. Your physician will advise you on how best to obtain the look you want.

Does the treatment hurt?
Tiny pinpricks can be felt, so an anaesthetic cream or ice can be applied beforehand to numb the skin but most people do not need this. Taking paracetamol 1 hour before the procedure can also reduce discomfort. Your physician will advise you further prior to your appointment.
How long will it take before the effects are visible?

You will be able to return to your normal daily activities immediately following treatment: there will be no visible changes. The full effect of the treatment will develop over the following 2-14 days.

How long will the effects last?
This can vary between individuals but most people notice the effects of treatment for at least 3-4 months.  The duration of effect often increases with each repeat treatment.
Are there any side effects?
Most people will experience no side effects at all. You may experience some minor discomfort at the time of your Bocouture®  injections. Your physician can numb the area to make you more comfortable. After your treatment, you may experience some tenderness, redness or swelling which will disappear within a few days. No long-term side effects have been reported. You can discuss this with your physician on your free consultation.
Will Anti-wrinkle injections leave my face expressionless?

No. We will only use small amounts of the toxin to target the specific muscles that are responsible for your wrinkles, meaning normal facial expressions such as smiling, frowning or looking surprised will be unaffected.

How do anti-wrinkle injections differ from dermal fillers?
While both anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers are injected into the skin, they work in wholly different ways. Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing the muscles and thereby giving lines and wrinkles a smoother appearance. Dermal fillers provide volume and thus help in sculpting your face. We provide both services at The Bleu Clinic and your free consultation will help determine which procedure would be best suited to achieve your goals.
Can everyone have anti-wrinkle injections?

Unlike some cosmetic medical treatments, they’re suitable for virtually anyone who has wrinkles. In some cases, depending on your skin condition or allergies, it might be advisable not to have anti-wrinkle injections. It may also be the case that what you wish to achieve will be better achieved with dermal fillers or skin peels. You can discuss all this with your physician on your free consultation to make the best decision for you. Botulinum toxin should not be injected if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

How many anti-wrinkle injections will I need?
This will depend on the areas being treated and what results you hope to achieve. Your medical practitioner will evaluate your needs and advise you on your initial free consultation.
Will my wrinkles become worse if I stop having anti-wrinkle injections after I have started?
No. Anti-wrinkle injection treatment is completely reversible and there are no permanent effects. In fact, your skin is likely to have benefited from the period of reduced muscle contraction, as wrinkle formation is slower during this time.
